Phoebe's Astro-Insights for October

Your day-by-day guide to the Astrological Weather in October

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck that which is planted.”

Ecclesiastes (ch. III, v. 1-8)

Welcome to the first in what I hope to be a regular monthly break-down of the astrological transits that are taking place in the heavens. The reason I have decided to go down this route between eclipses is that no matter where you are in the world, the astrological weather is virtually the same, even if timings are slightly different.

Astrology is best used to ascertain the right time to do things, as the quote above illustrates. It is most empowering and effective when used as a tool to guide you through the phases and natural cycles of your life, based on your own unique astrological chart. However, seeing as I don't have all your individual charts at my disposal, this is the next best thing! I encourage all of you to find out your personal planetary placings and then transpose the insights in this guide onto your own chart, so you know how things are likely to pan out for you, where in your life certain influences are likely to be felt, and what days are best to make the most of every occasion and opportunity.

This month I will begin on the 1st of October, but from next month, I will start my astro-insight predictions from the cusp of the next sun sign, so that we follow the natural solar cycle throughout the year. This will help us get into the zone with the planets and sync ourselves with the natural planetary rhythms of the true seasons, rather than the artificial calendar we currently work to.

I hope you will find this a useful guide that helps you get the insight track on what to do when. Enjoy!

1 October
TRANSITING MARS ENTERS CANCER
30 Sept   - 30 Dec 2007

A few days before the beginning of October, the planet Mars moved into emotional and family-oriented Cancer after a 6-week stay in Gemini. Because of a retrograde phase in early November, hot-headed Mars is due to stay in this watery sign until the end of the year – quite a long spell to host this uncomfortable combination of fire and water. From now until the end of the year, you can expect to experience powerful emotional states, especially those directed towards the home and family. On the positive side, this means you could get a lot of DIY or home decorating done and enjoy some boisterous time together with your nearest and dearest. On the negative side, expect to feel a touch of defensiveness or irritability, which could lead to domestic disputes, tension or strife. Your digestive system may be a tad upset at this time so, if you have a sensitive gut, avoid spicy or very hot foods at this time. Intuition and instinctive behaviour will both be very active now. Take your time in choosing the right course of action and listen to your gut instinct – it will probably be very strong right now.

 3 October
TRANSITING VENUS in LEO TRINE PLUTO in SAGITTARIUS
3  - 11 Oct 2007

Given that October is largely ruled by Venus, the goddess of love, which governs Libra, it is hardly surprising that relationships are likely to be highlighted at this time. Today, and for a week or so afterwards, you are likely to experience intense, dramatic and/or playful emotional interactions with others or come to important decisions about current relationships. Thanks to the long retrograde motion of Venus between the end of July and the beginning of September, this is the second time we will experiencing this particular aspect in these signs. This means that you’ve may already have come to some life-changing or deep-reaching decisions concerning your closest personal ties or concerning what you truly value in your relationships. Your may feel your sexuality strongly now, dressing up like a vamp, diva or ladykiller in shades of deep red, yellow or dark blue. Your libido may also be strong, making it a passionate time for lovers. You’re likely to feel love for another person strongly at this time, and wish to express your emotions in relationships meaningfully. Philosophical and cultural commonalities or power issues could be important themes within your close personal ties, and experiences with significant others right now could also prove very revealing and insightful, allowing for the possibility of profound psychological insights into this area of your life. New relationships that start up around this period are likely to have an intense flavour to them – you may feel powerfully drawn to someone in a mesmeric or magnetic way. This may be because the other person represents a quality within you that wants to be expressed. There may be a compulsive quality about your interaction, which, though unlikely to remain at this level of intensity indefinitely, could have a transformative effect on you.

On a more social level, you could find that the key to your social staying power lies in finding a group which shares  similar values or a common agenda. This is particularly true of those societies related to the theatre or sports, This is a good time for learning lessons related to sharing and trusting.  Any creative work conceived during this period is likely to be either flamboyant, colourful, reflect a certain emotional intensity or reveal some of the artists’ inner depths and philosophical or religious beliefs. Money transactions in relation to powerful people or large corporations, or in the field of sports, higher education or the arts (especially the theatre) are favoured now.

TRANSITING MOON in LEO GOES VOID OF COURSE after 9pm, so it is not idea for start anything new this evening, unless you are prepared for things to turn out a little unexpectedly.

8 October
TRANSITING VENUS ENTERS VIRGO
8 Oct 2007 – 8 NOV

At this time, you may seek meaningful relationships that have a practical basis or allow you or another to be of service in some way. Virgo is a very analytical sign, so you may also decide to use this energy to inspect your close emotional ties in greater detail to see whether anything can be improved. However, be aware that you may have very high expectations of a partner at this time, which could lead to critical or nitpicking tendencies. Instead, use any urges for perfection and neatness for tidying up your house or garden or getting your banking admin done. This is also a great time for work that requires you to be detailed, precise, ordered and punctual. This period may also prove to be a creative time for writers as well as academics or intellectuals who thrive on detailed analytical conversations, papers or research. Artists, politicians, bankers and diplomats may also enjoy this period, as it is great for intricate work and high productivity with less likelihood of errors.

9 October
TRANSITING MARS in CANCER SEXTILE SATURN in VIRGO
9  - 24 Oct 2007 Exact 9 October

This could be a very productive time for those who work in a field which utilises harnessed or controlled power, such as energy production or metal work, including factories or assembly lines that involve soldering or moulding metal in some way. It is also fantastic for making things happen and accomplishing ambitious tasks because it combines the motivation and action of Mars with the discipline, patience and endurance of Saturn. Saturn is also the planet that rules manifestation, so if you have been waiting for the right time to implement new plans of action, this is it! You are likely to make significant progress now and any changes you decide to make could have real staying power. For that reason, if you do experience any delays, consider these fortunate – it be that you need to rethink something to avoid long-lasting negative consequences. This could be a very productive and dynamic time for anyone who wants to get a new or large-scale project off the ground or make significant progress on fulfilling long-term commitments or achieving goals. It is especially good for people ruled by Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Virgo or Taurus and for those involved in the catering, healing or caring professions, as well as for building or modifying houses, writing books or any other task that involves working with your hands, such as sewing, carpentry or jewelry design. Counter any signs of irritability by throwing yourself into something constructive, rather than arguing over split hairs. The Moon is in Libra today, which should help to counteract the more petty sides of both signs and help to promote a pleasant and amiable atmosphere between co-workers and associates. However, it will be void of course from noon until 6pm (BST), so it is best to wait until the 10th before starting anything new, especially those ambitious projects I mentioned earlier.

At the same time as this aspect, Saturn will also be making a 180 degree angle to the North Node which is in Pisces. This aspect, known by some astrologers as the angle of relationship, sets in motion karmic situations that could help you learn important lessons about yourself and others. At the same time, Saturn will be orbiting pretty close to Venus, planet of relationship and money, so these lessons could revolve around one of these two issues. Unfortunately, this formation can also indicate a period during which you may feel anti-social, slightly depressed or reclusive. You may also feel cut-off from the social sphere due to heavy work commitments or duty to loved ones. Bear your responsibilities with patience and fortitude and you will emerge the better person. If this involves caring for a sick partner or relative, try not to be too harsh, critical or cold with them - right now they need your love and support more than a parental figure.

TRANSITING JUPITER in SAGITTARIUS SQUARE TRANSITING URANUS in PISCES
1-9 Oct 2007 Exact 9 October

This is the last in a series of three square aspects that have occurred between Jupiter and Uranus this year. The first passd was at the end of January whilst the second contact happened at the beginning of May. Cast your mind back to these previous transits if you want to get a fix on what might come up for you today in relation to a need for freedom or independence. Both planets are in signs that demand a large amount of flexibility and room to move from others. If neither of them get it, they tend to rebel, run away or become reckless, impulsive or aggressive, liked a caged animal might do if it was locked up for too long. Where do you feel you are being smothered or restricted? This is the time to find a way to balance the need for excitement and independence with your responsibilities and obligations. Squares ask you to rise to the challenge of a difficult situation and this is your third chance to get it right and make it work for you. If you don’t step up to the plate, then it is likely that you will feel irritable and frustrated, or hemmed in and your path restricted, either through circumstances, or by another person. On this day, you will probably sit at your desk at work wishing that you were on a tropical island somewhere, or that you could skip school or work today and do something fun. Ordinary life may seem dull and oppressive now in comparison to what you think it should be like, or what you feel you should be doing. The trouble is that you may have set your sights unrealistically high and be lacking in your normal powers of discrimination. Life could take on a reckless quality as you crave excitement and feel prepared to take big risks. Instead of doing something you might later regret, try to find a way to make the most of new and exciting opportunities while still showing some discrimination, restraint and wisdom. It’s your call, though. Those likely to be especially affected include Sagittarius, Aquarius, Pisces, as well as Leo, Aries, Libra and Gemini.

TRANSITING SUN SEXTILE TRANSITING JUPITER
4 - 13 Oct 2007 Exact 9 October

This aspect, whilst positive and dynamic, can create a sense of inflation and self-importance. Considering that it occurs on the same day as the Jupiter-Uranus aspect, you may want to guard against pride and arrogance as this may fool you into thinking you can get away with risky or irresponsible behaviour. That said, this is a great aspect for boosting ones’ sense of optimism and confidence, as well as one’s self-esteem – just don’t go overboard! This is a good time for growth or expanding your horizons, as well as travel for pleasure, knowledge or spiritual enlightenment . You may also benefit from going on a course or from an association with someone involved in higher education, the law or a religious or cultural leader. You may also find that those in authority will be well-disposed towards you, so if you need a favour from your boss or university tutor, this is the time to ask, especially if it involves a creative project. Those involved in  lecturing, teaching, publishing, the arts or theatre should also enjoy a fortunate spell under this transit. Generally, this combination is considered quite lucky. Those with strong Leo, Sagittarius or Libra in their charts are likely to notice this influence the most.

12 October
MERCURY RETROGRADE in SCORPIO
12 Oct  - 2 Nov 2007

Mercury, planet of communication, intellectual thinking, ideas and short-term travel, stands still in the sky today before beginning a three week retrograde period. During this phase, it will change signs, moving from Scorpio back into Libra. During this period, try not to make any lasting arrangements, sign any important contracts or pack your schedule too tightly because things are unlikely to go to plan! Instead, use this time to review and refine any schemes or blueprints for the future you may be working on, go over unfinished business and revisit past communication issues or intellectual endeavours until the 3rd of November or so. If you can, delay signing contracts or agreeing to any terms or conditions of sale until after this period unless you are prepared to read through the small-print with a fine-tooth comb! The same applies to purchasing big items – Mercury rules commerce and when retrograde, you are unlikely to bag a bargain!

On this day, Mercury will also be in close conjunction with the Moon, also in Scorpio, making it likely that thoughts and speech are likely to be coloured by your feelings. With both planets in Scorpio, there is likely to be a depth or intensity to your emotions and intellectual pursuits today. Probably the best way to use this energy would be to do focused visualisations if you have a particular goal you’d like to achieve, or to conduct in–depth research into a subject you feel passionate about. Another way to make this energy work for you is to have a juicy, deep conversation with someone who shares your interests, possibly in the field of metaphysics. Venus and Mars, the two planets most associated with sex and relationships, will also be making positive links to Mercury and the Moon, which means that your attention may well be on slightly more sensual matters! All I can say is that in this situation, good conversation is likely to serve as excellent foreplay to some sizzling, hot action! For artists, this formation, known as a minor grand trine (consisting of two sextile and one trine angle) with Venus as the focus, provides a wonderful opportunity for the motivated and creative expression of thoughts and feelings through mediums involving the hands, such as sculpture. It is also a great aspect for writers, given that Venus is in Virgo.

This minor grand trine forms part of a larger aspect pattern known as a Kite. This formation is associated with success and dynamic action. The focal planet is again, Venus, which forms an opposition to the North Node of the Moon. The Node often indicates a sense of fatedness or destiny in relation to a particular situation, and is in the sign of Pisces – considered the higher octave of Venus by many astrologers. Mars, the Moon and Mercury also form a grand trine with the Node, which provides three points of lowing, harmonious energy between these planets. Overall, it may be a good time to initiate talks or discussions about relationships or money right now, particularly in relation to how a current situation makes you feel, possibly within a relationship. A synchronous or meaningful coincidence may give you a sign as to how or when to broach this subject or provide further insight into how to resolve matters, if things get touchy.

13 October
TRANSITING SUN in LIBRA TRINE TRANSITING NEPTUNE in AQUARIUS
9 - 16 Oct 2007. Exact 13 Oct 2007

This transit, occurring between two air signs, marks the beginning of a period of sustained creativity, heightened intuition, physical sensitivity and psychic ability. Artists and writers will find that they aren’t short of inspiration, whilst trend predictors may find their predictive acumen is unusually accurate and focused. A positive contact between these two planets stimulates the imagination and one’s receptivity to the symbolic language of spirit. It is therefore time when people can attain heightened spiritual states, find themselves more able to grasp elusive or metaphysical concepts, as well as being more receptive to impressions from the ether. This means that those seekers after truth who are looking for divine union or mystical experiences are more likely to achieve their aspirations. It could also indicate an increased interest in religion, philosophy for some. This is also a time when your body may be more sensitive than usual, and therefore more responsive to healing treatments, powerful prayers or affirmations. The Sun in Libra means that you are likely to feel very relationship-orientated, or other-focused right now, whilst Neptune in Aquarius is very much concerned with service to humanity, spirituality trends on a global scale, as well as the ethical use of technology. It is likely, therefore, that you may be drawn to do volunteer work, visit a sick relative, encounter a spiritual teacher, or, if you are a film-maker or photographer, choose to work on a documentary or project that helps to improve the plight of those less fortunate than yourself or highlight their cause. This could apply equally to developing a website for a not-for-profit organisation or good cause. At this time, helping others will make you feel good about yourself. For some people, this transit can also indicate the meeting of an ideal love or a dream date. Romance at this time could take on an other-worldly aspect. Be aware though, that though Aquarius is a very glamourous and appealing sign, it is also quite detached, so as wonderful as this person might seem, they could be too good to be true or just a little difficult to pin down.

17 October
TRANSITING MERCURY in SCORPIO SEXTILE TRANSITING VENUS in VIRGO
14  - 19 Oct 2007. Exact 17 Oct 2007

Following on from our last aspect, Mercury in observant and sharp-sighted Scorpio meets up with clear-eyed and practical Virgo. This could herald a time of flowing conversation, though it is unlikely to be light-hearted. This is a great time to get to the bottom of a relationship matter, sort out a misunderstanding, or reach a clearer understanding in a money matter. It is an excellent time to renegotiate the details of a business contract, conduct some detailed research or do an intricate financial transaction. Your mind is clear and focused and you are unlikely to be put off by a lot of detail or daunted by hard work, thanks to the influence of Venus in practical Virgo. If you plan on buying anything, this is one day when the sales pitch of some shop assistant is unlikely to blind you to the pro’s and cons of the product they are trying to sell you. Romantically, it is an excellent day to say those dreaded words: “We need to talk” - chances are, you will be able to say precisely how you feel now, convey what is important to you in terms of values, and be pragmatic about how to move things forward in a way that suits both of you. This is also an excellent day for a therapy session as you will easily be able to identify and articulate exactly how you feel.

TRANSITING MERCURY in SCORPIO TRINE TRANSITING MARS in CANCER
1 - 20 Oct 2007. Exact 17 Oct 2007

As a follow-on to yesterday’s precise and focused intellectual energy, today is a day of decisiveness, intelligently-directed action and mental assertiveness, especially in relation to the emotions. On this day, you will be able to act and make decisions based on a combination of keen-eyed observation and strong intuitive promptings. At work, you are likely to be a force to be reckoned with – both direct and passionate in your decision-making and communication and extremely perceptive about people’s hidden agenda’s and motivations. Inferiors are unlikely to challenge your authority today, and peers will soon recognise that you’re not to be trifled with. Parents are likely to be able to sense exactly what a child is experiencing and act accordingly, as this is a wonderful combination of proactive, but firm nurturing and heightened perception. This is also great for raising issues with loved ones in a way that is both honest and kind; assertive, yet caring. This transit is also great for introducing police or military initiatives that help enforce the law but also foster care in the community. This aspect forms part of a bigger kite formation, including Venus & Saturn (in conjunction) on one end, and Uranus on the other. This suggests that you can achieve great things, especially in relation to loved ones (parents in particular) or business matters if you take a slightly unusual or detached approach to things; and are able to strike a balance between traditional roles and expectations, and the need to be independent and an individual in your own right.

20 October
TRANSITING SUN in LIBRA SEXTILE PLUTO in SAGITTARIUS
14 - 26 Oct 2007. Exact 20 Oct 2007.

Today you are likely to benefit from increased personal magnetism and the ability to attract powerful allies to you who can assist you in achieving your goals. This could mean that you come face to face with power issues today too – what you think power is and how you think it should be wielded. Events today may also shed light on any complexes you may have around authority or reveal to you how you sabotage yourself and give away your personal power. At this time, you may feel more willing to be open with others, sharing your deepest feelings or desires, or revealing more of yourself to others than you might normally feel comfortable doing. In this sense, it is a good day for group therapy, team-building sessions and illuminating chats with loved ones. If you are thinking of coming out of the closet, this is probably an excellent day to do so – this combination of powerful planets can be pretty transformative stuff, so use it as you see fit. You are also likely to have a lot of physical stamina and endurance too now, so this is likely to be a great day for a power work-out at the gym! At this time, you will also feel more determined and decisive than usual and be able to exert remarkable will-power at whatever task you set for yourself. This may also be a time when you are able to get in tune with a deep inner sense of purpose and realise the reason for you being here  - powerful stuff! This is especially true for sun sign Librans, Sagittarians and those ruled by Pluto or the Sun.

23 October
SUN ENTERS SCORPIO
23 Oct – 22 Nov. Exact 23 Oct 2007

We have again reached the point where the Sun passes the cusp between the constellation of Libra and enters the realm of Scorpio. For the next month, the Sun’s energy will be coloured by passionate emotions, intense connections and possibly involvement in some form of dramatic event. As the days begin to draw in and the sun begins to move further away from those of us in the Northern hemisphere, this period of the Sun in Scorpio marks the beginning of a somewhat more introspective period when many of us are clearing away dead plants from the garden, putting away summer clothes and furniture, and nesting in preparation for the colder and darker months ahead.

This same energy applies equally to our inner worlds – the mad spate of socialising that went on throughout the summer now begins to die down and we feel more compelled toward self-reflection, deep and meaningful conversations with or about loved ones - generally withdrawing from society into our own little cocoon of reading and quiet contemplation.

Scorpio is the sign that naturally rules the eighth house. This governs themes such as death and rebirth, other people’s money (including shared property, loans, grants and finances) as well as sex and intimacy issues. Perhaps you have just moved in with a partner or begun to see someone more seriously? This makes the month of Scorpio an excellent time for playing house-house with a significant other or locking yourselves away from the rest of the world for a bit of pash with a lover. Anything to do with sexuality, intense connections, the desire for a profound and lasting commitment are all qualities that are in keeping with the deep and secretive qualities of the water element as expressed through this zodiac sign.

Scorpio also rules a love of deep, dark places and the occult, so it is also a good time to probe into your psyche, a spiritual interest, or an area of research that requires focus, perseverance and sustained powers of concentration. It is also an excellent time to seek out healing, whether this be for the body or for the mind – your powers of recuperation under this sun sign are likely to be stronger than usual and you may find yourself capable of powerful transformation.

This month is also a good time to do some writing, investigate or research a topic in more depth, pursue esoteric matters or pursue healing therapies especially those that involve kinaesthetic energy, working through problems or undergoing some form of powerful transformation. Use the time between now and the 22nd of November to focus on any or all of these kinds of issues and you could find yourself making rapid progress.

24 October
TRANSITING MERCURY re-enters LIBRA, CONJUNCTING the SUN in SCORPIO
24 Oct  - 11 November 2007

As you know from last month, the planet Mercury is currently retrograde, that is, moving backwards in the sky until the 2nd or 3rd of November or so. This backward movement through the zodiac (as it appears from the earth) is why Mercury is now moving from the constellation of Scorpio back into Libra, the sign of relationships, creativity and money. As Mercury does this, it crosses the path of the Sun, which is moving in the opposite direction, from Libra into Scorpio. As they pass each other, they form a conjunction - an angle that symbolises a combining of energies - for a couple of hours. Technically, the conjunction occurs at midnight on the 23rd of October, but what’s five minutes between friends?

During this period, you may be granted some insights into your relationships, particularly with respect to whether you feel you can be yourself or express how you really think or feel with a partner or loved one, or whether you feel that a relationship is getting in the way of your ability to shine and pursue your true path in life.

With Mercury retrograde in Libra, it’s likely that you’ll be spending the next week reflecting on relationship, money or creative issues, and, given that Libra is very much about our one-to-one relationships, possibly considering the most diplomatic, charming or peaceful way to broach these with someone else. Whatever the subject of discussion, you can be that they have  a bit of a history – Mercury retrograde often brings up matters from the past and is a great time for resolving them for once and for all.

However, be aware that whilst a Mercury retrograde period is excellent for reviewing past issues or generally being introspective, it isn’t so wonderful for communication with others. Disagreements, misunderstandings and missed calls or e-mails are all possibilities until after the 2nd, when Mercury resumes forward motion, so if you can, hold off signing any important contracts, having job interviews or starting or finishing legal proceedings because you’re likely to miss something important in the fine print.

25 October
TRANSITING VENUS in VIRGO OPPOSITION URANUS in PISCES SQUARE JUPITER in SAGITTARIUS
19 Oct  - 1 Nov 2007, Exact 26 Oct 2007

Given the Libran/Venusian theme of the previous transit, it seems apt to focus on another Venus transit, which equally holds the potential to shake things up in the relationship, creative or financial sectors of your life. I heard a wonderful podcast the other day in which a Hawaiian shaman was saying that the main obstacle to being happy with another person is criticism and this observation could not be more appropriate when discussing this aspect, given that Venus is in Virgo – the sign best known for criticising and nagging!

This Venus-Uranus opposition, together with Jupiter, forms part of a larger configuration in the heavens known as a T-Square. Made up of two squares and an opposition, this astral signature generally spells tension and challenges for everybody. Putting a more positive slant on it, such aspects bring potential for adjustment and growth - it all depends on how you want to work with what the astral weather brings, as well as how these angles play out in your own charts.

So, how is this T-Square likely to play out? The best way to approach large astrological configurations is to break them down into individual components. Starting with the Venus-Uranus opposition, we have Venus in Virgo – a combination that has high standards in relationships which, if not met, can lead to nagging and carping behaviour or petty arguments – in opposition to Uranus in Pisces. Uranus is the planet of revolution and paradigm shift, of unconventional and erratic behaviour and a dislike for authority and the status quo. Placed in watery Pisces, the sign of emotions, creativity, spirituality, dreaminess and otherworldiness, Uranus is likely to signify unusual displays of feeling, unexpected reactions or behaviour, a demand for equality and the right to be an individual, and artistic rebellion, all of which could translate into a tension between what we feel we are entitled to as individuals and our roles in relationships. If one of you has been feeling as though they not being respected in a relationship or creative or business partnership, it is likely that during this transit, you may surprise your partner by putting your foot down, possibly regarding critical behaviour and insist that something changes in a relationship or you’re calling it quits. It is not uncommon under oppositions like this for people to deliver ultimatums or experience a make-or-break moment in their lives, which could lead to dramatic changes in relationships. If this aspect energises your relationships, then a breakthrough or break-up may occur. The same goes for money matters or creative partnerships.

Add to this the energy of Jupiter, which serves to amplify and exaggerate whatever it touches, and you have a potential time-bomb waiting to go off. The best way to diffuse such a potentially explosive situation is to deal with whatever is bothering you head-on and whatever happens, keep in your head the idea that what’s meant for you won’t pass you by.

An intense and possibly exciting time. It’s also possible that this transit could provide a sudden flash of creative inspiration for artists, so be open to any ideas that hit you like lightning. But with Uranus in the mix, it’s hard to know where the chips will fall. You have been warned!

FULL MOON in TAURUS

The Full Moon is always a time of culmination, conclusions and fulfillment. On this day, it’s a good time to wrap up project, celebrate the climax of an achievement or bring something full circle up. This month it occurs in the sign of Taurus – perfect for the autumn season where everything is ripening or slowing down in preparation for the winter months ahead. The focus now will be on earthy things like your body and its habits, practical arrangements, food, money and real estate. Take a moment to ask yourself how your health is, check-in with to see if you need to take things a little bit more easy. Focus on giving pleasure to the sense – cook a nice meal and eat it at leisure, take a long soak in a scented bath or book yourself in for a massage. Allow your sensual side some free reign to express itself on this day and you’ll feel all the better for it. It’s also possible that a money or employment issue may come to fruition, so keep an eye out on the post-box – you may get a job offer or cheque in the mail…

26 October
TRANSITING MERCURY in LIBRA SEXTILE TRANSITING PLUTO in SAGITTARIUS
23  - 27 Oct 2007, Exact 26 Oct 2007

Today is excellent for penetrating conversations, making powerfully persuasive speeches or for discussing taboo subjects or difficult issues, such as one’s sexuality. A great way to make use of this energy would be to broach an awkward topic with someone honestly, or book a therapy session. The more open and honest you are about those deep, dark places within your psyche, what drives you or scares you, the more progress you are likely to make. Politicians who have speeches planned around this time, will be extremely effective at winning people over or bringing them round to their points of view. This is also an excellent time for getting to the bottom of a mysterious matter or secret, focused or in-depth research, meditation (your concentration will be like a laser). It is also a dynamic and stimulating time on the business front, especially if you are involved with big corporations on some level.

28 October
MOON ENTERS GEMINI

Today, the moon enters fun-loving and curious Gemini. For the next 2-3 days, allow yourself to explore new ideas, meet new people and generally seek intellectual stimulation wherever you find it. This is a great time for socialising, reading, attending lectures in your local area, catching up with neighbours or siblings or just having a good gossip with a mate over the phone! Enjoy the atmosphere of mental inspiration and verbal activity. It is also a good time to revisit special places in your local area or country which have provided you with answers in the past – a mini-pilgrimage over the week-end may just be what you need right now to resolve a certain dilemma.

30 October
TRANSITING SUN in SCORPIO SEXTILE TRANSITING SATURN in VIRGO
26  - 31 Oct 2007, Exact 30 Oct 2007

Today the Sun and Saturn exchange friendly conversation in the heavens from their positions in the constellations of Virgo and Scorpio. This dynamic and stimulating angle in between earth and water signs makes for a time of slow but steady accomplishment in getting to the bottom of a matter, correcting or fine-tuning some details in a piece of writing or research as well as excellent powers of concentration. In interactions with others, you are likely to be rational, lucid and reliable and convey a sense of authority and power. During this transit you should enjoy good relationships with those in authority  - they may even be able to help you overcome an obstacle or limitation of some kind. Physically you can expect to enjoy a period of endurance and robustness – great for marathon runners. You will exercise more patience than usual and be capable of sustained effort in anything you out your mind to – great for getting a Herculean task out of the way!

JUPITER in SAGITTARIUS SEXTILE NEPTUNE in AQUARIUS
30 Oct – 30 Nov Exact 30 Oct 2007

Today philosophical Jupiter and spiritual Neptune meet in a friendly sixty-degree angle in the heavens. Jupiter is extra strong because it is currently in its native Sagittarius, giving proceedings a little boost of optimism and high spirits. Jupiter is also the former ruler of Pisces, now ruled by Neptune, so these two planets have a natural harmony with each other which makes it great for philosophical pursuits, attempts at spiritual upliftment, humanitarian efforts and divine inspiration. For those who teach or preach, this could be an uplifting day when you are reminded of what made you take up your vocation.  For artists, this could signal a period of visionary expression, and a developing a deep sense of meaning and connection with your subject matter. This is the sort of energy that compels people to want to make a difference in the world and society. Ride the wave and find a way to contribute meaningfully to the bigger picture.

31 October - Halloween and from Midnight, the Day of the Dead
NEPTUNE STATIONARY – DIRECT 2 NOVEMBER
MOON VOID OF COURSE

Today on what is generally considered to be an eerie day, when the veil or parting between our world and that of the dead (or the Underworld, as the Greeks put it) is thinner than other times. On top of that we have the planet Neptune, symbolic of all things liminal, standing still in the night sky, getting ready to change direction – spooky! Generally speaking, when planet change direction from retrograde to direct motion, their power shifts from an introverted to an extroverted type of energy – their influence is more keenly felt and observed in the world of events and activity – whereas when planets are retrograde, their power tends to be distorted, disrupted, muted or turned inward….

Given that Neptune is already associated with dreams, intuition, spiritual experience and psychic ability because of its capacity to dissolve boundaries, this Halloween, Neptune may well enhance the possibility for communing with what Jung called the collective unconscious and what psychics might term the spirit world.

For all those mystics out there, this is the perfect opportunity to commune with a higher power. Esoteric and shamanistic types would find it easier than usual to commune with entities ‘beyond the veil’ or journey to that place which the Greeks called the Underworld. Be careful  - for Neptune is also the planet of deception – you are advised to do some form of spiritual protection ritual first!

During this time, the Moon is Void of Course which the ancients interpreted as a sign that the helper or planetary agencies are out to lunch, so to speak, so perhaps be a little cautious about starting new things now or pushing the envelope a little too far today.
