During
December, a total lunar eclipse on the 21st promises
to shake up beliefs and perspectives for us all. Taking place
around sunrise at 08h13 GMT, a day before the winter
solstice and near to the cusp of Gemini and Cancer,
this occultation promises to be a liminal event when truly magical
things can happen. Mercury, ruler of Gemini, will
oppose the Moon just before this event, which is likely to
polarise thought and feeling. Pluto, itself a major
catalyst for transformation and reinvention, will be
orbiting near to the lunar nodes (where eclipses take place) in
early Capricorn, adding a somewhat fated air to matters. Whatever
occurs, you can be sure that dramatic change is on the way, affecting
power structures, particularly governments and large organisations.
On the 4th of January, a partial
solar eclipse in Capricorn ushers in a new cycle in world
and economic affairs when institutions such as banks
and political regimes are likely to be held accountable for their
actions and forced to reform if found lacking. Cultural, legal
and ideological change and ethical technological innovation
is further emphasised by the second conjunction of Jupiter and
Uranus, this time in Pisces during this period. Remarkably, this eclipse
conjuncts Kate Middleton’s natal Sun-Moon opposition in
Capricorn and Cancer, which could also be interpreted as the start of
a new personal and emotional phase in her life.
