Terms of Use
Last updated 19 October 2026
- AstroSphere is for people aged 13 and over.
- Be kind and follow the Community Guidelines. There’s no place for offensive, abusive or harmful content, and we remove it.
- You own what you post. You let us show it in AstroSphere so the app can work.
- The social features and Launches are free. AstroSphere Tools is an optional subscription that renews automatically until you cancel it in your app store account.
- The tools give estimates, not guarantees. Never look at the Sun without a proper solar filter.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Martyn Clarkson, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom, who runs AstroSphere (“we”, “us”). They cover the AstroSphere app and this website. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them, to our Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms, and you confirm you’ve read our Privacy Policy.

Who can use AstroSphere
- You must be 13 or over. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up.
- If you’re under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian to subscribe to AstroSphere Tools.
- You can have one personal account. Don’t pretend to be someone else, and don’t use an account we’ve banned you from by opening a new one.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- Give accurate information, including your date of birth.
- Squad owners and moderators are responsible for running their Squad fairly and within these terms.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: tap the gear icon on SkyFeed and choose Settings → Delete account, or go to Edit Profile → Delete account.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, captions, comments and anything else you post. To run the app, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, resize, display and distribute your content inside AstroSphere, in line with your privacy settings. That includes showing your public posts when other members repost them. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people already hold outside the app and anything we must keep by law or for safety, as our Privacy Policy explains.
Only post content you have the right to share. If you post someone else’s photo, you need their permission and should credit them.
We don’t use your photos in adverts or marketing without asking you first.
No tolerance for objectionable content
AstroSphere has zero tolerance for objectionable or abusive content or behaviour. That includes harassment, bullying, hate, threats, sexual content, graphic violence, illegal content, spam and scams. The Community Guidelines explain what isn’t allowed.
- Use the ⋮ menu on any post, comment or profile to Report it or Block the person.
- Every report is reviewed. We aim to act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.
- We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or the guidelines, and we may do so without warning where the breach is serious.
- If you think we got it wrong, email us and we’ll look again.
AstroSphere Tools subscription
The social features and Launches are free for everyone. AstroSphere Tools is an optional paid subscription that unlocks the astronomy tools listed on our Tools page.
- Price and plans: monthly or yearly. The price, in your local currency, is shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment: you buy through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), and they take the payment. We never see your card details, and their terms also apply to the purchase.
- Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Free trial: if a free trial is offered, you’ll be charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Each account can have only one trial.
- Cancelling: manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting your AstroSphere account or the app doesn’t cancel the subscription.
- Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. This doesn’t affect your legal rights.
- Price changes: if the price goes up, the store will tell you first and, where the law requires, ask you to agree.
- Free access: we sometimes give free access, for example to Founding 500 members or testers. Free access belongs to the AstroSphere account it was given to and can’t be transferred or exchanged for money. “Lifetime” means for as long as we offer AstroSphere Tools; it doesn’t cover other apps or products we may make. We may end free access if the account breaks these terms.
- Changes to the tools: we keep improving the tools and may add, change or retire one. If we make a change that takes away a substantial part of what you pay for, you can cancel, and you can ask the store for a refund.
Accuracy and safety
- The tools work out positions, times, forecasts and equipment figures from published models and data. We check them carefully, but they’re estimates, and weather forecasts can be wrong. Don’t rely on them where safety or money is at stake.
- Never look at the Sun with your eyes, binoculars, a telescope or a camera without a proper, certified solar filter. Doing so can cause permanent eye damage or blindness.
- Observe responsibly: respect private land and access rules, and take care when observing alone, at night or in remote places.
Other people’s content and services
AstroSphere shows content from other sources, such as NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day, NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory images via Helioviewer.org, weather data by Open-Meteo.com and launch data from The Space Devs. These belong to their owners and are credited on our Image credits page. We aren’t responsible for their accuracy or availability. Members’ posts are their own views, not ours.
Things you mustn’t do
- Break the law, or help anyone else to.
- Copy, scrape, resell or reverse-engineer the app or its data, except where the law allows.
- Try to get round the subscription, padlocks or security, or access accounts or data that aren’t yours.
- Interfere with the app, overload it, or use bots or automated accounts.
- Use AstroSphere to send adverts or spam.
Our app and name
The AstroSphere app, name, logo, design and tools belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
If you got AstroSphere from the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for the app or its content, and has no duty to provide support or maintenance for it. If the app doesn’t meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the price you paid for it (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple isn’t responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, consumer protection claims, or claims that the app infringes someone else’s intellectual property; we are, as far as these terms say. You confirm you’re not in a country under a US government embargo and aren’t on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Our responsibility to you
- We provide AstroSphere with reasonable care and skill, but we can’t promise it will always be available, free of errors or right for your purpose. Features may change.
- If you’re a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- We don’t exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
- Otherwise, we’re not responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for AstroSphere Tools in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending your use
You can stop using AstroSphere and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us. If we ever close AstroSphere for good, we’ll give you reasonable notice in the app, and you can ask the store for a refund of any unused paid period.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app and ask you to agree before it applies to you. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there. If something goes wrong, please email us first at support@astro-sphere.co.uk and we’ll try to put it right.
